Jolted By Macro Reset, Bitcoin Briefly Pushes Toward $64K

At one point late last night, Bitcoin climbed to as high as $63,900 before hastily retreating early today. As of 7:10 a.m. (EST), the largest crypto sat close to $62,800.

Investors apparently are still digesting last week’s weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs report that was taken as a signal that a rate hike may be less likely, shifting the macro backdrop that ravaged BTC ETF assets in June. “Liquidity-sensitive assets got a lift heading into the weekend,” CoinDesk said.

Among altcoins, Lighter continued to set the pace. The decentralized derivatives trading platform's native LIT rose 8% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. Lighter, per DefiLlama, has seen $40B worth of trading volume over the past month.

Yield Optimizer Reportedly Hacked

Summer Finance, a yield-optimization protocol, has been exploited, according to The Block. Summer Finance officials have not yet confirmed the breach. The protocol uses “AI keepers” to allocate and rebalance user deposits across multiple high-yield lending platforms.

On-chain analysts at Blockaid first flagged the incident early Monday. At least $6M is believed to have been been stolen. It seems attackers, manipulating smart contracts so as to target an accounting vulnerability, wound up obtaining a $65M flash loan ultimately used to attain a $71M redemption.

DEX Tokens In Demand

CoinMarketCap's Altcoin Season indicator ticked up to 52/100 on Monday. That’s the metric's highest level in the past three months.

The recent success of perpetual futures platform Hyperliquid has led traders to seek out the next potentially promising DEX, resulting in a lift for LIT but also LAB, up 15% in the past 24 hours, per CoinGecko. Other DEX tokens on the rise today include DEXE (+15%) and PYTH (+12%).
