Sui Name Service (NS): Your Identity on the Sui Blockchain

Sui Name Service (NS) is a decentralized naming and identity service built on the Sui Layer-1 blockchain. Imagine replacing those long, complex wallet addresses with easy-to-remember names like "alice.sui" – that's what SuiNS is all about. It lets users register human-readable domain names and link them to their Sui wallet addresses and other on-chain resources.

SuiNS is designed to simplify your on-chain experience:

  • Human-Readable Wallet Names: You can register names with the .sui extension (e.g., example.sui) to personalize your wallet identity.
  • ".sui" and ".move" Domains: SuiNS offers two distinct domain types: .sui domains for individuals to represent their personal identity, and .move domains for projects or companies to identify their on-chain resources like smart contracts.
  • Subdomains: Need more organization? SuiNS supports the creation of subnames under your main domain, allowing for greater flexibility.
  • Easy Name Management: Owners have full control to manage their names' settings through the SuiNS dApp, letting them link and update their name to any Sui wallet address whenever they choose.
  • Decentralized Websites: Beyond just wallets, SuiNS names can also point to content on the decentralized web! Thanks to IPFS integration, you can map your SuiNS name directly to an IPFS content hash.

The NS token is central to the Sui Name Service ecosystem, acting as its governance token. Holding NS allows you to propose and vote on the protocol's future direction through its governance dashboard. Furthermore, the token is planned to be used for future incentives and rewards for active governance participants, ensuring a truly community-driven development path.
