About PlayDapp (PLA)

PlayDapp is a blockchain gaming ecosystem platform that operates on the Ethereum and Polygon networks.

PLA is the platform’s native digital asset. It’s used within the ecosystem to purchase in-game NFTs. PLA was launched as an Ethereum-run ERC-20; it serves as the primary fungible token for the processing of transactions from users, the project said.

CoinGecko has described the project as a global consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace.

Some users are game dApp operators and/or developers. They receive PLA upon each in-game purchase or trade, after a reasonably small transaction fee is deducted by PlayDapp.

Gamers can play games to earn NFTs and rewards, distributed via PLA tokens. PlayDapp's C2C marketplace, also described as a dApp game portal, contains NFTs connected with the wider gaming metaverse, hence this platform’s distinction as both a gaming ecosystem and a blockchain-based C2C marketplace.

"PlayDapp games are interoperable,” the project said, emphasizing the diversity of titles and the increasing role of NFTs.

One noteworthy innovation on the platform is its "Item Manager," a tool that PlayDapp says "provides the function of converting goods obtained from games into NFTs."

A major milestone was reached in late October of 2021 when PlayDapp announced the deployment of the P2E model into its flagship game, "Along with the Gods: Knights of the Dawn."

At the time, it surpassed popular blockchain game Axie Infinity in social indicators on PlayToEarn - Best Blockchain Games List - Crypto Games , according to Cointelegraph.

"PlayDapp's vision is to create a world where digital assets are more valuable and accessible to everyone," the project said.

"Users will not only be able to take true ownership of their digital assets for the first time but, will also be able to earn rewards for ecosystem participation.

PlayDapp wants to appeal gamers who are not into blockchain and crypto, which is why the platform is geared toward facilitating interplay and fair exchange among new and old school gaming platforms.

When was PLA created and how much was it worth?

Seoul-based PlayDapp was founded in 2017. Its head of business, Sang Chug, is said to have two decades of experience in Korea's gaming industry.

In 2019, SuperTree, the developer of PlayDapp, was invited to participate in C-Lab Outside, a startup incubation program run by Samsung Electronics.

PlayDapp launched on Ethereum in 2020.

How is the price of PLA determined?

It's a deflationary asset. The supply is capped. The maximum PLA token supply is 700 million PLA. Of that total, about 400 million are now in circulation, according to CoinGecko.

Why does PLA have value?

Game items that players earn are swapped for tokens. Game developers and DApp operators earn rewards paid in PLA (minus transaction fees).

PlayDapp’s marketplace seeks to allow users to claim complete ownership of their digital assets by allowing gaming items to be used interchangeably inside the PlayDapp service ecosystem, while allowing users to readily exchange game-related items.

PLA price rises as investors swing back to metaverse and NFT projects, InvestingCube said. PLA value these days also seems to be partly impacted by a PlayDapp NFT buyback initiative seen as possibly increasing token demand.

Is PLA secure?

It’s as secure as the networks upon which it runs. One of these networks is Ethereum, renowned for being secure.

Additionally, PlayDapp said in May it entered into a joint business contract with Infoseed, which specializes in address innovation, bolstering security of NFT addresses.

What are the main benefits of PLA?

  • The platform aims to make digital assets more accessible by converting traditional PC gamers into blockchain-based gamers.
  • The PLA token can be used within games, ecosystems, metaverses and offline marketplaces.
  • PLA-denominated rewards can be exchanged for other digital assets on most exchanges, Cointelegraph said.
  • Sang Chung, head of business at PlayDapp, said “Along with the Gods” was “reborn as a true blockchain game.”
  • PlayDapp is looking to create a level playing field on which users get to claim complete ownership of their digital assets.
  • The SDK helps developers integrate blockchain infrastructure, connecting to digital items using a simple system.

What do critics say about PLA?

An analysis of PlayDapp by InvestorsObserver gives the project a low score in terms of risk/reward assessment.
