Token Description & Project Background

Polygon is a high speed PoS network based on Plasma with layer one settlement back onto Ethereum.

Its mainnet launched on May 19, 2020.

Polygon (previously Matic Network) was founded in 2017 by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, and Anurag Arjun in Bangalore, India.

MATIC is the network’s native token - it serves two distinct roles on the network. First, MATIC serves as the means by which users pay network fees accrued from executing transactions on the protocol. Second, MATIC holders can stake their tokens to smart contracts deployed on the Ethereum main chain in order to take part in the validation process and receive a cut of transaction fees produced by the network.

Risks of MATIC

Like an investment in other crypto assets, there are some general risks to investing in MATIC. These include:  (i) volatility risk and liquidity risk, (ii) short history risk, (iii) demand risk, (iv) forking risk, (v) code defects, (vi) regulatory risk, (vii) electronic trading risk, and (viii) cyber security risk. The MATIC community and Polygon team are not under any legal or regulatory obligation to disclose material information to the public regarding its activities. Holders of MATIC have no recourse to Polygon’s founders, developers, current team, or Uphold if MATIC declines in value for any reason.
