From the Uphold app home screen, tap Instant Credit, then Get a loan. You can deposit XRP, BTC, ETH or USDC as collateral in the Exactly Protocol. Choose how much you want to borrow, select a repayment date, and confirm. Your USD or USDC will be deposited in your Uphold account instantly. Loans are offered through the Exactly Protocol.
You can deposit XRP, BTC, ETH or USDC as collateral in the Exactly Protocol via the Uphold app. Also, you can convert another asset in your Uphold account into one of these assets.
Your borrowing power is based on the value of the assets you deposit as collateral and the stability of each asset. More stable assets provide higher loan limits. When you add collateral, you'll see exactly how much credit that unlocks in real time. You can add more collateral at any time to increase your borrowing power.
Credit Health reflects how much you borrowed versus the value of collateral securing your loans. Your score changes in real time as your collateral prices move, or as you borrow and repay. If your score gets too low, you may not be able to borrow more. To improve your score, you can add more assets as collateral or pay back part or all of your loan. Your Credit Health score is shown in the Instant Credit section of the app.
If your Credit Health score falls too low (see score chart here), some or all of your collateral may be sold by the Exactly Protocol to pay back your loan. This is called liquidation. To improve your Credit Health score, add more collateral or repay part or all of your loan. Uphold will notify you when your score is at risk.
Yes, when you add collateral, you are instructing Uphold to transfer your assets to the Exactly Protocol on your behalf. These assets move off of the Uphold platform and are held within the Protocol’s smart contracts while your loan is active. You won’t be able to use or withdraw that collateral until the loan is repaid. Once you repay the loan in full, your collateral is returned to your account.
You repay your loan in a single payment — principal, plus interest — on your selected repayment date. To repay, go to the Instant Credit section in the Uphold app and tap Repay. There is no penalty for early repayment.
Yes. You can defer and select a later repayment date in the Instant Credit section of the Uphold app. Deferring the repayment date increases the APR and the total interest you pay over the life of your loan. Be sure to check on your Credit Health score to avoid liquidation.
As soon as you miss your repayment date, an additional daily penalty rate of 0.45% starts accruing on your balance. You can still repay your loan after your repayment date has passed or you can defer your repayment. The earliest new date you can choose will be 7 days after your original repayment date, and the daily penalty will continue to apply until then. Any penalties accrued will be added to your final repayment amount.
Yes, you can repay your loan at any time before your chosen repayment date with no early penalty.
Borrowing and Exa Credit Card share the same credit line and collateral. The Exa Card lets you spend at Visa merchants and repay purchases in up to 8 installments. Borrowing with a loan gives you USD or USDC directly in your Uphold account, which you repay in a lump sum on your chosen date.
There are no application fees and no origination fees. A small network fee applies when you deposit collateral and when you borrow. You’ll see the exact amount before you confirm your loan.
Exactly Protocol is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol. It allows you to use your crypto as collateral and borrow against it. When you deposit supported assets, such as, BTC, ETH, USDC, or XRP, they’re allocated to the Protocol’s on-chain lending markets. You can then use that credit balance to either take out a loan or spend it via the Exa Visa Signature® Credit Card.
