Spending on your Uphold Debit Card can earn you rewards payable in crypto.

Customers who sign up to receive an Uphold Debit Card before January 1, 2026 will earn introductory rewards during the first 90 days following signup (the “Introductory Period”) as follows: 

Uphold Elite Card: 

  • 6% back in XRP on each Eligible Purchase

Uphold Essential Card:

  • 4% back in XRP on each Eligible Purchase

After the Introductory Period, Cardholders will receive:

Uphold Elite Card:

  • 3% back in Rewards Currency (currently XRP)  on each Eligible Purchase

Uphold Essential Card:

  • 2% back in Rewards Currency (currently XRP) on each Eligible Purchase

Card Rewards Program Terms and Conditions

The Card Rewards Program (the “Rewards Program”) is a promotional offer intended to express our appreciation for customers who use the Uphold Visa Debit Card, as set forth in these Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (“Rewards Terms”). These terms apply to the Uphold Essential Card and the Uphold Elite Card (individually and collectively, “Card”) issued to you by Cross River Bank (“CRB”), Member FDIC, on the Visa network. The “Program Manager” for the Card is Uphold HQ Inc. and is the Bank’s program partner responsible for managing the Card and providing customer service to you on the Bank’s behalf. These Rewards Terms supplement, and form an integral part of, your Cardholder Agreement, available here, governing the issuance and use of your Card, as well as the User Agreement available here governing your use of the Uphold platform. Please read these Rewards Terms carefully. If there is anything you don’t understand or agree with, please contact Customer Service opening a support ticket at support.uphold.com. The terms capitalized in these Reward Terms but not defined herein have the meanings given in the Cardholder Agreement or User Agreement.

  1. Definitions


    “Card” means either the Uphold Essential Card or the Uphold Elite Card.

    “Eligible Purchase” is defined in Section 4, below.

    “Good Standing” means that Your Uphold Account is not restricted for any reason, and that You have not violated any key terms, such as engaging in fraudulent activity or misusing the Card, and the Card or Uphold Platform account has not been suspended or canceled for any reason, including non-payment, fraud, or misuse.

    “Monthly Reward Cap” means the maximum amount of Rewards Currency a Cardholder may earn in a calendar month, calculated in the USD equivalent of the Rewards Currency at the time of reward issuance.

    “Rewards Currency” means any cryptocurrency used to pay rewards to Cardholders under this Rewards Program, at Uphold’s sole discretion.

    “Reward Rate” means the rate at which the Card earns rewards through usage as set in Section 2 below.

    “Uphold Account” means Your account on the Uphold platform linked to your Card.

    “Uphold Platform” means the Uphold.com platform that offers various products and services to customers.

    “You”, “Your”, “Cardholder” means the person named on the Uphold Account and authorized by Uphold to use the Card.

    “We”, “Us”, “Our” or “Uphold” means Uphold HQ Inc.
  2. Program Overview


    Uphold offers you the opportunity to earn rewards on Eligible Purchases made by using your Card. Rewards accrue at the Reward Rate applicable to your Card and depend on whether the purchase was funded with any of your Uphold Asset Accounts, up to the Monthly Reward Cap.
  3. Eligibility & Enrollment

    1. To be eligible to participate in this Rewards Program, you must, both at the time you make an Eligible Purchase using the Card and at the time Uphold disburses the rewards: (a) have a verified account in Good Standing on the Uphold Platform, and (b) and reside in the United States, excluding Louisiana, New York, or any U.S. Territory.
    2. Enrollment in the Rewards Program is automatic upon activation of an eligible Card.
  4. Earning Rewards

    1. Rewards are earned only on “Eligible Purchases,” defined as purchases made with your Card, subject to the exclusions set forth below.
    2. The following types of transactions are not Eligible Purchases:
      1. Cash-like transactions (ATM withdrawals, cash-back with a purchase, money orders, wire transfers, stored value loads, crypto purchases, peer-to-peer transfers, or similar);
      2. Gambling and lottery (casinos, online betting, racing, lottery tickets, gaming chips);
      3. Government and court-related payments (taxes, fines, bail, alimony, or child support);
      4. Debt and collections (loan payments, credit card payments, debt collection services);
      5. Non-purchase transactions (account adjustments, returns, refunds, credits, overpayments, fees, or disputed, canceled, or unauthorized transactions); or
      6. Restricted categories (including telemarketing, escort services, timeshares, and certain charitable or religious payments).

      Uphold may expand or update these exclusions from time to time in line with network rules and regulatory requirements.

    3. For each Eligible Purchase, you earn Rewards Currency equal to the Reward Rate multiplied by the amount of the Eligible Purchase transaction denominated in U.S. Dollars, with the resulting amount converted into Rewards Currency at the prevailing exchange rate on the Uphold platform at the time the reward is disbursed.
  5. Monthly Reward Cap

    1. You may earn no more than Monthly Reward Cap each calendar month under this Rewards Program.
    2. Once the Monthly Reward Cap is reached, no further rewards will accrue for any Eligible Purchases settled during that calendar month.      
    3. The Monthly Reward Cap is set at $300 (USD equivalent) in Rewards Currency per calendar month for the Uphold Elite Card, or $120 (USD equivalent) in Rewards Currency per calendar month for the Uphold Essential Card.
  6. Rewards Payout

    1. The rewards will be calculated as of the last day of each calendar month and posted to your linked Uphold Account within ten (10) business days thereafter.
    2. The rewards must bear a notional value of at least $1.00 equivalent for the amount to be added to your Uphold Account balance. Otherwise, no rewards will be credited to your balance for that month, but the amount will be carried forward to the subsequent month.
    3. If you cancel or close your Card, you will be credited for the rewards amount you have earned up to the date you cancel your Card.
    4. If the amount due to you at the end of the Rewards Program or on the date when you cancel your Card is less than $1.00 equivalent, your account will not be credited and you forfeit that amount.
    5. If you close your Uphold Account during a given month, you will not be eligible to receive rewards for the month in which you close your Uphold Account.
  7. Your Termination and Cancellation Rights

    1. You may withdraw from the Rewards Program and terminate these Rewards Terms by cancelling your Uphold Card.
  8. Modification and Termination

    1. Uphold may modify, suspend, or terminate this Rewards Program (or any component) at any time, with or without notice, subject to applicable law.
    2. Changes will be effective upon posting at https://uphold.com/en-us/legal/card-rewards. Continued use of the Card after changes constitutes acceptance of such changes.
  9. Disclaimers

    1. Participation in the Rewards Program does not constitute financial, investment, or trading advice. By participating, you acknowledge and agree that cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile, and digital asset values can significantly fluctuate over short periods of time. You accept all risks associated with holding or receiving cryptocurrency as a reward, including the potential for loss of value.
    2. Rewards paid in cryptocurrency are subject to market volatility and may increase or decrease in value after being awarded. Uphold makes no representations or guarantees regarding the future value or stability of any digital asset provided as part of this Rewards Program. You acknowledge and accept that the value of your reward may change based on market conditions beyond Uphold’s control.
    3. Uphold shall not be liable for any losses or damages arising from: (a) price fluctuations or inaccuracies in digital asset pricing data; (b) delays, interruptions, or errors in data transmission; (c) changes in cryptocurrency protocols or features; (d) technical issues, maintenance, or outages; or (e) any acts of third parties beyond Uphold’s reasonable control.
    4. Receiving a reward under this Rewards Program does not guarantee any specific value or return. The amount or value of rewards is subject to change based on prevailing market conditions. Uphold is not responsible for any loss of value or forfeiture of earned rewards due to price volatility or other factors.
    5. Uphold reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to interpret these Rewards Terms, determine participant eligibility, and modify, suspend, or terminate the Rewards Program at any time without prior notice. All decisions made by Uphold in connection with the Rewards Program shall be final and binding.
  10. General

    1. This Rewards Program is offered solely by Uphold and not Cross River Bank (CRB), the issuer of your Uphold Card. Rewards are not deposits or other obligations of CRB, are not guaranteed by CRB, and are not FDIC-insured.
    2. The Rewards Program does not constitute a credit product. Rewards have no cash value except as expressly provided in these Terms.
    3. Disputes concerning rewards must be submitted here in writing within 60 days of the posting date.
    4. These terms supplement the Cardholder Agreement. If there is any conflict between these Rewards Terms and the Cardholder Agreement applicable to you, these Rewards Terms shall prevail.
    5. You shall be solely responsible for any taxes arising from the receipt of rewards. If, and to the extent, applicable law requires Uphold to withhold or deduct any taxes from the payment of rewards to you, Uphold shall make such deductions in a timely manner, remit the withheld amounts to the appropriate tax authority, and provide you with an official receipt or other appropriate documentation evidencing such remittance.
    6. To the fullest extent possible under the law, Uphold shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever caused by matters relating to this offer including, but not limited to, human, machine or typographic error. Any attempt to obtain or generate any fraudulent or other non-permissible mechanisms to obtain the rewards, as determined by Uphold in its sole discretion, shall give Uphold the right to disqualify users from the Rewards Program. By accepting the rewards, Cardholders will be deemed to be bound by and have accepted these Rewards Terms. 
    7. The Rewards Program, including any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms, shall be governed by the same laws and dispute resolution provisions, including arbitration and governing law, as set forth in the Cardholder Agreement.
